Celebrating Our Confederate Heritage - And Response (2)

Yes, Roy, 'tis a shame the way these "enlightened" cities desire doing their dirty deeds beneath the cloak of darkness and disguise.

At this rate we may have to adjourn to Brazil in order to celebrate any Confederate heritage.

Removing monuments is not totally the full issue. To me, it's attempting to erase part of our history as a nation.

Yes, that period of time was horrific for the entire country.  Yes, slavery was real and terrible. That was also 150 plus years ago.

I understand that monuments may seem, to some who get offended by them, as celebrating slavery and racism. To others,  it is heritage and history and a reminder of what happened and what else these men and women did beyond the war and into reconstruction.

This is a battle that will never end. It's not just a simple issue. However, I don't think it's right to try and eradicate history. How else do we learn?

Plain and simple, if your going to erase the confederacy from my heritage and history books, then it is only fair to erase slavery from the heritage of those who suffered and again, the history books.
