Ray Anthony Flippin
Ray Anthony Flippin was born on October 7, 1956 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Charles W. Flippin Sr. and Maggie Kemp Flippin. He departed this life on Saturday April 22, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Kemp Flippin, sister, Regina Flippin Martin, brothers, Charles W. Flippin Jr., Rashad Flippin, and Lebrone Flippin.
He loved and admired his former Bishop, the late W.C. Hunter (The World’s Church of the Living GOD).
Ray graduated from Brainerd High School, class of 1974 and later attended Chattanooga State Technical Community College. He was employed by Rockwell, US Pipe, and the Pallet Company. Ray enjoyed all sports. He excelled in high school football. Ray will be remembered for his love for softball. He played for the Chattanooga Stars and succeeded in leading the team in many hits and runs batted in (RBI’s).
Ray is survived by his beloved daughter, Ailyah Roeber (Flippin), father, Charles W. Flippin Sr., devoted brother, Andre Flippin, sisters, Pauline Evans, Bettina Flippin, Delores (Larkin) Lloyd, Joyce (Morris) Dawson, Agnes Brown, Nellie Jackson, Mylene Flippin, and LaShanda Cummings; a special niece, Pamela Flippin Snelling, devoted friend, John Wayne Croom, a host of other special nieces, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 29, at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
The body will lie in state after noon on Friday, April 28, and family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
