Lee University faculty members Gordon James, Bill Pritchard, Dr. Doug Warner, and Dr. Nathan Warner, along with Lee graduate student Jordan Bailey, will present a brass concert on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in Pangle Hall.
The evening will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Elmer Bernstein, Eric Ewazen, and Michael Tilson Thomas.
As Principal Horn of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera, Mr. James has been playing and teaching horn for over 30 years. He is currently an adjunct horn instructor at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Southern Adventist University, and Lee University.
Mr. Pritchard serves as a tuba and euphonium professor and orchestral coach at Lee, in addition to being a low brass professor at Georgia College and State University. He began teaching in Atlanta in 2001 while he was a member of the Army Ground Forces Band. He currently plays tuba with the Midtown Brass Quintet, the Georgia Brass Band, the New Atlanta Philharmonic, and the Ludwig Symphony, among others.
Dr. Doug Warner is chair of the department of music performance studies and professor of music at Lee. He has been Principal Trombonist of the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera since 1985. From 1986 to 1997, he was a member of the King’s Brass, a touring ensemble with which he recorded four albums.
Dr. Nathan Warner, an assistant professor of music at Lee, has performed with the Chattanooga Symphony, the Knoxville Symphony, Lady Antebellum, Doc Severinsen, Peter Cetera, Clay Aiken, Slide Hampton, Lou Marini, The Four Tops, The Temptations, Olivia Newton-John, and Franki Valli and The Four Seasons, among others. Prior to Lee, he was Instructor of Trumpet at the Manhattan School of Music Pre College in New York City.
Mr. Bailey is studying music performance at Lee. He is involved in Lee’s Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Brass Choir. He recently performed in the orchestra for the Lee Theatre production of “Oliver!”
The Monday evening concert is free, non-ticketed, and open to the public.
