COS Business Products & Interiors, Chattanooga’s oldest independent business products and interiors company, is stepping up to assist Hamilton County’s Read 20 program by collecting books for distribution to the area’s youngest readers.  As the company delivers orders to customers, they will also drop off collection boxes bearing the COS Bookmobile design that encourages donations of ‘gently loved’ children’s books.

“Hamilton County is fortunate to have a program like Read 20 that encourages a lifetime of reading and love of books,” said COS President Skip Ireland.  “Our team makes deliveries to companies and organizations across the county every day, so we thought it made perfect sense to turn our delivery trucks into bookmobiles to collect books for kids.”

Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger said, “Read 20 began as an encouragement for parents, grandparents and friends to read with a child at least 20 minutes each day.  Reading leads to the development of early learning and comprehension skills.  There’s simply no substitute for time spent reading with a child.  We’re grateful that COS is launching such a great effort that will lead to hours of enjoyment by young readers in Hamilton County.”

COS delivery team members will be dropping off and picking up collection boxes through June 30.  The books will be given to Read 20 and distributed to young readers around Hamilton County.  Businesses who are interested in participating are encouraged to call COS at 624-0011 and request a collection box.
