The Chattanooga Lookouts pitching staff struck out 16 batters, but fell 3-2 to the Mobile BayBears Saturday night before a crowd of 4,162. Reliever Nik Turley led the way for the home squad striking out 10 batters in just four innings in a relief effort.

Behind three early runs of support, Mobile RHP Luis Diaz (1-0) kept Chattanooga's bats quiet.

The Lookouts managed a pair of hits in the first two frames, but Diaz faced the minimum in each of the next four innings. He recorded eight strikeouts along the way, one shy of his career-high.

Mobile struck first in game three of the series on a home run by Wade Wass in the second inning. In the fourth inning the BayBears put two runners on against starting pitcher Fernando Romero. The righty was pulled with one out in the inning for releiver Ryan Eades who surrendered a two-run triple to Bo Way.

Trailing by three the Lookouts offense got into gear in the bottom of the eighth inning. Tanner English led off the inning with a bunt single down the first base line. BayBears reliever Greg Mahle proceeded to walk Nick Gordon and give up an Edgar Corcino single to load the bases. Travis Harrison then stepped up to the plate and drove in a run on a double play ground ball. Chattanooga added their second run of the inning on a Dan Gamache RBI single. Gamache went 2-for-4 in the game.

An inning later Ryan Walker tried to jump start a ninth inning rally with a lead off double. The next batter, Engelb Vielma, hit a sacrifice bunt to move Walker to third. The team put a runner on first after a Mobile error allowed Lamonte Wade to reach safely. With two outs Mobile intentionally walked Edgar Corcino for Travis Harrison who struck out to end the game.

Chattanooga (1-2) left 10 men on base and went 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position, ultimately proving to be the difference in the game. The Lookouts loaded the bases in each of the final three frames and, despite scoring a pair of runs in the eighth, could not complete the comeback.

Ronnie Muck helped Mobile escape an eighth-inning jam, and then he struck out two batters to get out of trouble in the ninth.
