Lamont Paris was announced as the 20th UTC Head Men’s Basketball Coach on April 4. He came to Gig City from Wisconsin where he assisted Bo Ryan and Greg Gard in a golden era of Badger basketball. In 20-plus seasons as a collegiate assistant, his teams are 487-194 with nary a losing mark on his ledger.

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s basketball season tickets are on sale for another exciting year of Mocs basketball!

Come be a part of history as Chattanooga’s Hall of Fame head coach Jim Foster looks to become just the eighth coach in NCAA women’s basketball history to reach 900 career wins. Only six men’s coaches have reached the tally with just three men’s and women’s head coaches topping 1,000.

Padded reserved seats are $125 per person for the season and general admission seats are $100 each. With just 12 home games last season, the Mocs led the Southern Conference in attendance averaging 2,969 fans per game and ranked 36th in the NCAA.

The home slate will include a return by Rutgers and appearance from Florida Gulf Coast who spent many weeks on the AP Top 25 poll and several doubleheaders are on the schedule with the men’s team. Look for the completed schedule to be released later this year.

Last season the Mocs won their 21st Southern Conference regular season title and 18th tournament crown. UTC became the first team to win five consecutive SoCon Tournament championships, passing its record of four straight set in the early 2000’s.

The Mocs returns all-conference performers Chelsey Shumpert and Keiana Gilbert along with all-freshman team member Lakelyn Bouldin. All three are starters for the Mocs along with senior Aryanna Gilbert.

Mocs’ signees Jacobi Lynn (McMinn Central), Mya Long (Baylor) and Bria Dial (Brentwood) earned All-State honors by the Tennessee Sports Writer’s Association. Lynn was a two-time finalist for Tennessee Miss Basketball by the TSSAA. Also heading to the Scenic City will be Brook Burns (Gadsden City [Ala.]) and Rochelle Lee (Houston [Memphis]) along with transfer Arianne Whitaker who redshirted last season at UTC.

Tickets are on sale beginning Monday, May 1 at the McKenzie Arena box office in person or by calling 423-266-6627 (MOCS). The box office is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Tickets are also available online at the official Chattanooga Athletics website GoMocs.com.
