Dixie Highway 900-Mile Yard Sale Returns June 2-4

  • Wednesday, May 24, 2017

The annual Dixie Highway 90-Mile Yard Sale has grown steadily since it began in 2006. Pickers, junkers and down-right thrifty shoppers will be out in force once again as the sale returns June 2-4.

"Visitor interest in this year's sale has grown 17 percent year-to-date," said Regina Wheeler of the Cartersville-Bartow County Convention & Visitors Bureau, who referenced postings, likes and shares on Facebook.

The sale takes place from Ringgold through Acworth and features numerous sites in Emerson, Cartersville, Cassville and Adairsville. Ms. Wheeler says there are currently 10 known "mega sales" sites along the 90-mile route. Mega sales are defined as areas where property owners curate and rent spaces to other dealers, vendors and individuals. "These sites usually offer some of the best stuff to be found," said Ms. Wheeler who says six of these locations are within Bartow County.

Pinpointing the mega sale sites before heading out will help plan shopping days. These locations generally offer good parking and allow shoppers to walk through many sales at one site. Some sites also have public restrooms and food available for purchase.

If starting out on the southern end of the route, Ms. Wheeler suggests driving all the way to the end in Ringgold, where Ringgold Feed & Seed will be hosting its special High Cotton Junk Market. The Ringgold Feed & Seed was featured in 2015 on Great American Country's "Endless Yard Sale," as was Cartersville's Copperwood Company. Mike Crane, Ringgold Feed & Seed owner, not only sells during the annual yard sale, but also buys. "We look forward to the Dixie Hwy 90-mile Yard Sale every year. We shop at the northern point in Ringgold and we have a truckload before we get to Dalton. It's a great sale!" shared Mr. Crane. He also said the High Cotton Market is still seeking sellers. "We are looking for antiques, vintage, rusty crusty--basically, great stuff."
