Sandy Bradley
Sandy Stott Bradley of Harrison, Tennessee, passed away in the comfort of her home with her family on May 24, 2017, following a brief illness.
Sandy was employed by the Dade County School System for 25 years, inspiring students and teachers serving as a teacher, academic coach, and most recently the graduation coach at Dade County High School. She received a bachelor’s degree from University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. She also earned a Master’s degree from Tusculum University, and an E.d.S. from Lincoln Memorial University. She attended Ooltewah United Methodist Church.
Sandy was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend. She loved her family, her work, and her life! Sandy used her many gifts to teach, motivate, and inspire students. She made an impact on every student she came in contact with. Whether it was an emotional or academic need, she was there for her students to support and nurture success.
Former students returned to visit Mrs. Bradley to share their accomplishments and achievements, thanking her for these successes. Several of her former students have become educators because of her powerful influence. In recent years, Mrs. Bradley worked with students who were at risk of dropping out of high school. Because of her willingness to listen, show compassion, and motivate students, the graduation rate at Dade County High School has risen from 71% to 95%! The students knew that Mrs. Bradley did not merely have the desire for them to graduate, but she would move mountains to make it happen. She LOVED her students!
Mrs. Bradley was beloved by her colleagues. She always noticed their accomplishments and had a kind and encouraging word to share. Her example reminds all educators why we chose this vocation.
Sandy’s impact was evident as the entire Dade Community has embraced Sandy by sending countless words of encouragement and prayers through social media, even causing her sites to crash.
She is survived by her husband, Timothy; her children, Laurel and Thomas; her mother, LaVerne Thomas Stott; her sister, Debbie Stott (James) Sutton; nieces, Alison Kirby and Samantha Pierce; parents-in-law, Martin(Stella) Bradley; her sister-in-law, Tereana Kerr; and nieces, Tatum and Teegan Kerr.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel Stott.
Visitation with the family will be held from 4–8 p.m. on Friday, May 26, at the Chattanooga Funeral Home, Valley View Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, at Ooltewah United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Richard Richter, Jr. officiating. Internment will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.
