On Monday, June 5 beginning at 1 p.m. at the Hubert Fry Center at the Tennessee RiverPark, Erlanger Health System President and CEO, Kevin Spiegel, City of Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke and Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger will announce details for the second Chattanooga Heroes Run/Walk.
"On July 16, 2015, Chattanooga was changed forever following the tragic shootings at the Armed Services Recruiting Center on Lee Highway and the U.S. Naval Operational Support Center and Marine Corps Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway.
Two years later, thousands of supporters will participate in the Chattanooga Heroes Run/Walk to honor and remember those who lost their lives and the hundreds of first responders who worked to protect our city," officials said.
The event, presented by Erlanger’s Level One Trauma Center and sponsored by LIFE FORCE Event Medicine, City of Chattanooga, Hamilton County, Rock Creek, and University of Tennessee Chattanooga, will take place on Saturday, July 15, at the RiverPark, beginning at 8 a.m. Last year’s event raised $15,000. Officials hope new additions to this year’s event will help them raise even more.
The families of Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, Sgt. Carson Holmquist, Lance Cpl. Squire K. Wells, and Logistics Specialist 2nd Class Randall Smith have chosen to use the proceeds from this event to help fund the construction of a permanent memorial space at the RiverPark.
