River City Sessions Is May 11 At Granfalloon

  • Thursday, May 4, 2017

The River City Sessions on Thursday, May 11, will feature Cannon and Hailey, David Jones, Mike Crowder and Ivy Leaks. The show is at Granfalloon.  Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.  Admission is $5.

Review for the artists:
Cannon & Hailey - Cannon Hunt and Hailey Miller are students at a local high school, Baylor. They have a folk-inspired style, incorporating acoustic sounds and harmonies. Each of them brings a different style to the music; Cannon brings classic, southern rock sounds while Hailey includes pop and R&B influences. The two have played covers ranging from Hip Hop to Pop to Country, not to mention plenty of their own music. Together, Cannon & Hailey hope to achieve an authentic, unique sound that their audience can sit back and jam to.

David Jones - One of those...who spent a life in other pursuits but was never able to give up the dream of being a writer. David first came to our attention as a song writer but has emerged as a poet.

Mike Crowder - Mike Crowder is a lifelong Chattanoogan and a musician with many years' experience in local bands like Dark Horse Ten, the Bluegrass Pharaohs, and Uncle Lightnin'. Mike has been writing songs for over thirty years. He has recently struck out on his own, developing a strong solo performance style and appearing at local open mics and festivals. His story songs describe unmade choices, unwound relationships, and unbroken survivors of the human experience. Mike is preparing an album called "Playing a Part" for release later this year.

Ivy Leaks - Rebekah and Beth have been playing together for more years than their youthful looks seem to allow. A favorite at open mics around town they have a broad range of originals to give us.

Upcoming events:
May 13 - Several of RCS'ers will be at The Little Owl Festival, a fund raiser of the Chattanooga Audubon Society. Check out the lineup here. Little Owl Festival

June 9 - RCS returns to Lula Lake for a special outdoor show. This years lineup includes our crowd favorites from the past two years. Mountain Creek House Fire and Caney Creek Company along with storyteller Michael Gray and The Unknown Buskers will be at this don't miss show. Watch for more to come.

July 13 - The Return of Memphis recording star Faith Evans Ruch.
