Access America Transport Founder Joins Steam Logistics

  • Thursday, May 4, 2017

Steam Logistics has hired Allan Davis as its chief technology officer. Mr. Davis will lead all aspects of Steam’s technology and innovation strategies as it continues to leverage technology to drive positive change within the international logistics industry.

Mr. Davis is one of the founders of Access America Transport, the Chattanooga-based third-party logistics company that grew to $500 million in annual sales before selling to Chicago-based Coyote Logistics in 2014. Mr. Davis served as COO at Access America and became an owner and board member of Steam when it was founded in 2012.

“We are really excited to have Allan join us,” says Jason Provonsha, Steam’s CEO. “It’s been nice to have his insight and guidance as a board member, but now we will have him with us full time to help us continue to bring innovation to an industry that is ripe for change.”

Mr. Davis is a serial entrepreneur and is also one of the founders of Lamp Post Group, the venture capital incubator he launched in 2010 with Ted Alling and Barry Large (also Access America founders). Lamp Post helped launch a number of businesses, including Bellhops, Ambition, AAT Carriers, Steam Logistics, and Reliance Partners.

“The past few years working with—and investing in—a whole host of start-ups has been really rewarding,” said Mr. Davis. “But now I’m ready to get back into the daily hustle of building a company. Steam is already growing like crazy and I’m excited to help drive that even faster.”

In 2016, Mr. Davis helped launch Dynamo, an $18M early stage fund that invests in logistics technology companies, which includes Steam. Mr. Davis will continue his role as managing director of Dynamo in addition to his role at Steam.
