Eminent Domain Needed For Dangerous Northpoint Boulevard - And Response

  • Sunday, May 7, 2017
County and or Chattanooga city officials should use eminent domain and take over Northpoint Boulevard:

This road has become a public nuisance. The potholes in the road are causing vehicles countless amounts in damage. It's currently decorated with orange cones of shame.

The owners of this road are either in a coma or somewhere other than the third rock from the sun.
Any reasonable property owner would have thrown their hands in the air and waved a white flag by now.

Are they asking the city of Chattanooga for help? If so, what's the hold up? This is a very useful road but has becoming a hazard to drive on. It's gotten exponentially worse as new construction has gone in. Just the other day in the pouring down rain a large truck dodging a pothole swerved and nearly hit my wife head-on.

Heres my message to the owner(s): Whatever your hold up is, get over it. Don't let it take some family getting seriously injured to make you decide to take action.

I absolutely agree with Mr. Berry 100 percent.

If Northpoint Boulevard was my private road being used as a cut-through, I would have long ago thrown my hands up over the complaints and put a toll booth at each end. Tolls would be refunded upon production of a receipt showing purchases made, no matter how small. Not only would users be charged to enter, they would be charged to exit my road.

A privately owned road, no tax dollars ever contributed to its maintenance, and there are complaints by those who use it as if it was a municipally maintained road, knowing that it is not. Am I missing something? We don't come to Chattanooga as often as we used to but we always try to support the businesses on that road when we do.

Those evil rich people should maintain their stuff better so we can use it, shouldn't they.
