Morning Pointe Team Wins "Taste Of Ooltewah And Harrison" Contest

Morning Pointe Senior Living’s food service directors took home the culinary crown during the third annual Taste of Ooltewah and Harrison, hosted by District Nine Ooltewah Harrison Education Fund (D9). The Morning Pointe team was named the reigning “Taste Champion” for 2017.

Arie Haynes, Beverly Spates, and Greg Cook, the trio from Morning Pointe’s assisted living and memory care campuses in Chattanooga and Collegedale, showcased classic treats like key lime pie and pineapple upside-down cake, to a creative “cookie on a stick,” and decadent dark chocolate macadamia cookies for nearly 2,500 guests during the annual event at Cambridge Square.


Morning Pointe was among a dozen local restaurants, grocers and food service organizations competing for first place, including Publix, Food City, Mojo Burrito, and newly opened eateries Puleo’s Grille and Shane’s Rib Shack. The contestants offered food samples from a variety of cuisines, ranging from appetizers and hors d'oeuvres, to entrees and desserts. Attendees carried around their appetites, visiting booth after booth to vote for the best local fare.

Miranda Perez, executive director of D9, says she received much positive feedback about the delicacies offered by the Morning Pointe team, and expressed her gratitude for the company’s ongoing support for local schools.

“We are proud to recognize Morning Pointe as a company that believes in our mission,” said Ms. Perez. “We appreciate their commitment to education in our community.”

For more than 20 years, Morning Pointe has supported education initiatives, and has partnered with D9 to improve public elementary schools in Ooltewah and Harrison, officials said.

“We are grateful to have this opportunity to share our dining experience with the Ooltewah and Harrison communities while benefiting such a great organization like D9,” said Rob Pollard, regional vice president at Morning Pointe.
