Lorene Horton
Lorene Horton passed away June 7, 2017 at Hospice of Chattanooga.
She was 88 years old. Lorene was born April 4, 1929 in Eutaw, Alabama to Monroe and Eva Pearl Eatmon. In later years she moved to Chattanooga. She was employed by State Hospital for 25 years. She retired from East Ridge Hospital after 22 years. She had many years of service at both hospitals.She was a faithful member of Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, where she served under Pastor Melvin L. Jordan and Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Eva Pearl Eatmon; her husband Samuel L. Horton, Sr. ;three sons, Samuel L. Jr., Willie Michael, and Rickey Horton, Sr. five sisters and three brothers.
Those who survive her include Mary J. Horton, of Nashville, Patricia Horton Perkins of Chattanooga, four sisters, Francis Eatmon of Tuscaloosa, AL, Flora Fort of Worchester, MA, Loretta Hodge of Albany, NY and Bobbie Eatmon of New York; 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as wel as many great, great, great grandchildren; one aunt-in-law, Annie M. White of Columbus, MS; special nieces, Mary Boyd Smith, Betty Sue Billup, and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins, special friends, Buel Walker, Vera Moon, Linda McCullough, and Nancy Starkley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 16, in the funeral home chapel. The body will lie in state beginning at 9 a.m. until the service begins.
