Jeff Haney, 61, of the Lakeview Community, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2017 in a local hospital. 

Jeff was a lifelong resident of Fort Oglethorpe where he was a 1975 raduate of Lakeview High School.  Jeff loved sports.  While in High School he played basketball and football.  Later in life he enjoyed playing softball in the Chattanooga Softball League. He played left field, he was known for hitting home runs, and he was named to the All World Softball Team in 1984.  Jeff also loved watching NASCAR and enjoying the outdoors, hunting, and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buford and Faye Haney.

Survivors include his brother, Terry Haney of Fort Oglethorpe; sister, Melissa (Guy) Allen of Adairsville, Ga.; two nephews, Nick and Josh Allen; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga at 4411 Oakwood Drive Chattanooga, Tn. 37416.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 24, at 2 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Greg Ezell officiating.  Honorary pallbearers are Randy Davis, Chuck Crownover, Robin Broadwell, Tim “Geba” Autry, Alan Marshall, Chuck Hammon and Phil Harris.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from noon until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
