Hazel Verline Ford Dannel, 91, of Decatur, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 at Life Care of Athens, Tennessee.
A daughter of the late Ruby F. Morgan and step-father Henderson R. Morgan of Decatur. Verline, who was born and raised in Meigs County, attended McKenzie Business School of Chattanooga. She served with the Meigs County Department of Human Services for 40 plus years. She was a member of Bethsadia Baptist Church of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Doyle Milburn Harmon, Sr. of Decatur, and J.W. Dannel of Athens, Tn.
Survivors include her husband of 25 years, Charles Dannel of Decatur, sister, Charlotte Ford Harmon of Decatur, niece, Brenda Sue Harmon of Decatur, nephew, Doyle Milburn Harmon, Jr. (Marilyn) of Decatur, two great-nephews, Jason Harmon (Aimee) of Lebanon, TN., Lance Harmon (Krista) of Ooltewah, a great-great nephew and niece, Tucker Harmon and Rylee Harmon of Lebanon, one sister-in-law, Eleanor Dannel of Athens, nephew, Mike Dannel (Michelle), and niece Margaret Eichelberger (Kevin) of Newport News, Va.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, June 24, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home with Reverend Larry Sorah and Reverend Jamey Davis officiating.
Pallbearers will be Larry Scott, Eddy Miller, Ken Jones, Jerry Harris, Doug Roberts and Mike Dannel.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, at Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur, Tn. Interment will be following at the Goodfield Cemetery.
