Doyle Lee Puett, 62, of Etowah, passed away Saturday morning, June 24, 2017, at Blount Memorial Hospital in Maryville.
Born on January 20, 1955, he was a native and lifelong resident of McMinn County and a longtime faithful and active member of Coghill Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a deacon for many years. He was employed at Choate Printing since 1974 and enjoyed spending time at Cade’s Cove and “in the woods.”
He was preceded in death by his mother, Blanche Moore Puett; father-in-law, Gene Trotter; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Nettie Moore; paternal grandparents, John and Luralee Puett; nephew, Cheyenne Armstrong; and great-nephew, Dawson Lairmore.
Doyle is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Gayle Trotter Puett; father, Loyd Puett of Etowah; brothers, Danny Puett and his wife Zelma of Etowah and Wendell Puett and wife Karen of Etowah; sister, Neta Crutchfied and husband Richard of Athens; mother-in-law, Helen Lipps and her husband Bernard of Etowah; brother-in-law, Alvin Lipps of Etowah; nieces, Scarlet Poteet and husband Michael of Etowah, Wendy Jones and husband Lloyd of Lenoir City, Shelly Lairmore and husband Joe of Delano, Mandy Puett of Etowah, and Hannah Lipps of Knoxville; nephew, Jeramey Lipps of Etowah; a special great-niece and nephew, Claudia and Dalten Laimore. Several extended family and a host of good friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life and Homegoing service for Doyle Puett will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 27, in the chapel of Serenity Funeral Home with Brother Joe Hatcher officiating.
The committal service will be at 11a.m. on Wednesday with Doyle’s brother Wendell officiating. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the services.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
