Award-Winning Trenton Campground Named A KOA Holiday

  • Monday, June 26, 2017

The Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga West KOA is now a KOA Holiday, one of three descriptive brands created to help campers select the right campground for their camping needs.  The campground is owned by Brian and Allison Kacvinsky, who are celebrating their tenth year with KOA.

“We were living in Cleveland," said Mr. Kacvinsky.  "She was a nurse and I was an engineer.  We were tired of the cold weather and I wanted to see my kids.”

At the time, Mr. Kacvinsky traveled all over the country as an engineer, so the couple began to look for an opportunity with less stress and more family time.  Avid campers themselves, owning a campground made sense as an investment. When they found the Trenton-based campground they knew it would require renovation, but they saw a lot of potential. A decade later, they say all their hard work has paid off.

KOA Holiday campgrounds are base camps for exploring the area or just a fun place to stay with lots of activities. KOA Holiday parks have amenities and services to make stays memorable, whether it’s a longer stay or just overnight, said officials. Each KOA Holiday features full-service RV sites and KOA deluxe cabins with bathrooms.

The Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga West KOA Holiday is big-rig friendly, with spacious pull-through and back-in RV sites with up to 50-amp service and either full or partial hookups.  For a week or weekend away, it also features deluxe cabins, one- and two-room camping cabins and shaded tent sites.

Amenities include a pool, indoor movie theater, jumping pillow, playground, gem mining sluice, a mini-marshmallow “shooting gallery” and space to play horseshoes, frisbee golf and a host of other family-friendly games.

Kamp K9 is available for four-legged camping guests, and a dog walking service is also offered.

“People like it that we’re more of a destination,” said Mr. Kacvinsky. "We have lots of return campers.”

The Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga West KOA Holiday is one of 500 open-to-the-public KOA campgrounds in the Kampgrounds of America system in the U.S. and Canada.  Other new KOA brands include KOA Journeys, locations after a long day on the road that feature long pull-through sites and easy after-hours check in; and KOA Resorts, which include an abundance of activities led by recreation staff, on-site food service, group meeting space and much more.

Located at 930 Mountain Shadows Dr. in Trenton, the Lookout Mountain/Chattanooga West KOA Holiday received the 2017 KOA President’s and Founder’s Awards for meeting exceptional quality standards and achieving world-class service scores from their camping guests. It also earned the 2016 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. It is open year-round.
