Barbara Jean (Hunt) Cooper
Barbara Jean (Hunt) Cooper, 89, of East Ridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2017, surrounded by her family and friends after a long illness.
She was born in Chattanooga on May 31, 1928 to the late Raymond and Thelma Hunt and has resided in the East Ridge area for several years. She retired from Proffitts in Chattanooga and also with Pickett’s clothing in sales. She was of the Baptist faith and loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the joy of raising her family. She is regarded by her children as the best mom in the whole world. Barbara enjoyed reading poetry, working cross word puzzles and going on rides through the Chickamauga Battlefield. She was a humble, loving person who will truly be missed by her family and friends. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two great-grandsons, Lucas Hunt Cooper and Isaac James Cooper.
Survivors include her daughters, Cassandra (Norman) Wiltberger and Melody (David) Cornelison, son, J. Hunt (Linda) Cooper, grandchildren, Johnathan (Sara) Cooper and Katherine Cooper, great-grandchildren, Lily Victoria, Layla Alexandria and Grace Elizabeth.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2017 in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Matthew Nevels officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the service hour in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
