Questioning The Timing Of Release Of IZone Data

  • Sunday, June 4, 2017

I arrived back in Hamilton County on Sunday after being gone for several days. I knew I would have to catch up as I got ready for the first candidate to come to town Monday.

I could tell in reading that my fellow board members are looking forward to this week and picking a new superintendent. I certainly am. This is the most important decision any of us will ever make. I just hope every person in Hamilton County understands that.

Then I saw the press release from anonymous county school officials about the improvement in the iZone schools. I am not sure i have ever seen a government entity do that.

Let me say, I am proud of each and every thing that has been done for these schools since Dr. Kelly became interim superintendent. I am not proud, in fact very concerned, that a group of people in the Central Office felt this was the right time to put this information out. Less than two days before the first superintendent finalist comes to town.

I enter this week confident this School Board will make the right decision.
