More than twenty local businesses and over 100 residents have signed up to participate in the renovation effort for Rivermont Elementary. The school is hosting a Summer Renovation Blitz June 22-29. School officials and volunteers have asked local business owners, community groups, and individual volunteers to adopt a classroom, space, or project within the school or on its 10 acre campus. The project will conclude with a community celebration at the school on Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m. highlighting the new facility.
“The turn out and support has been unbelievable,” says Principal Nikki Bailey.
“We started small, with just a limited number of classrooms we deemed in critical need of renovation. But, the response has been so overwhelming that now every space in the school has been adopted.”
Even with vast support, renovation organizers say they are still in great need of volunteers. Organizers need volunteers to donate food and help out during the blitz week. Anyone interested to contributing to the effort can sign up on Rivermont Elementary’s Facebook page, or by contacting Nikki Bailey at Bailey_Nikki@hcde.org.
"The faculty and volunteers of Rivermont Elementary are utterly blown away by the generosity of every volunteer and all of our community sponsors, including but not limited to: Sophie’s Shoppe, Highland Pediatrics, Pratt Homes, T.U.
