MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- LaMonte Wade hit a grand slam in the eighth inning, leading the Chattanooga Lookouts to a 12-1 win over the Mobile BayBears on Wednesday. The win was the 20th of the second-half against just six losses.
Chattanooga left-hander Stephen Gonsalves (6-3), gave up two hits, struck out eight, and gave up one run, in the series opener. In 68 2/3 innings Gonsalves, the Twins top pitching prospect, has struck out 82 hitters.
The grand slam by Wade came in the midst of a seven-run inning eighth inning and gave the Lookouts a 10-1 lead.
Later in the inning, Andy Wilkins hit a two-run home run.
Chattanooga pounded out 16 hits against the BayBears.
Five Lookouts homered in the game: Nick Gordon, Jon Rodriquez - 2 homers, T.J. White, Wilkins, and Wade.
Opposing starter Jaime Barria (1-2) took the loss in the Southern League game after giving up four runs and 10 hits over 4 1/3 innings.
