Helen Anderson
Helen Melton Anderson beloved, mother, grandmother and great–grandmother, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
She was born June 11, 1917, in Vonore, Tn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years John “Jay” Anderson and her parents, Charles E. and Callie Watson Melton and several brothers and sisters.
Her many interests include being an avid golfer for 35 years, who had two holes-in-one, and loyal Tennessee Girls basketball fan. Helen was a member of Rivermont and Creeks Bend Golf Course and played with the ladies association for many years. She was a member of Red Bank United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Helen is survived by her son, Richard “Andy” (Candice) Anderson; daughter, Joy (Steve) Taylor; three grandchildren, Dr. Stephanie (Chris) Allen, Athens, Ga.; Lindsay (Brian) Allsbrooks and Ben Taylor of Soddy Daisy; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Natalie and Noah Allen of Athens, Ga.
A special thanks to Robin Johnson who provided loving care and help, which allowed her to stay independent and in her home. All of those who knew and loved Helen will miss her greatly, but will be better people because of her.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Ashland Terrace.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel.
Interment to follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
