Edgar Cecil Caylor Jr, age 71, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Monday afternoon, July 24, 2017, at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.  

Edgar was born October 20, 1945 in Copperhill, Tn., a son of the late Edgar Cecil and Rosie Payne Caylor, Sr.  He was also preceded in death by special friends, Joe Green, Michael Eisenhower and James Parker. 

Edgar was a 1963 graduate of North Whitfield High School.  He attended and graduated from North Georgia Technical College in Clarksville, Ga., on a basketball scholarship.  He received his degree in photography and worked many years at Caylor Industrial.  Edgar was a unique individual who loved life, family and friends. He enjoyed being outdoors and woodworking. 

He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Cecil Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Kathy Caylor, Arnold and Janell Caylor; nephews and spouses, Randy Miller, Brian and Tammy Miller, Todd and Kim Miller, Heath and Frances Caylor, Jonathan and Martin Caylor; great-nephews and spouses, Drew and Megan Miller, Mark Miller and Jeannie Sally, Joshua Miller, John Mathew Miller, Ryan Miller, Kylie Caylor and Aiden Caylor; great-great-nephews, Grant Miller, Cole Miller and Reid Miller; aunts, Louise Deal and Ruth Turvey, Wilma Caylor, Margaret Mynes, Betty Bratt, Brenda Davidson, Patsy Campbell; special friends, Gary Cole, Daniel Morgan, Carol Hill, Judy Evans, Charlene Peters Sandra Lindenthal, Evelyn Wells, Angie Barton and his 1963 classmates from North Whitfield High School. 

Services to celebrate the life of Edgar Cecil Caylor, Jr., will be held Thursday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Gary Cole and Reverend Billy Willis officiating. He will be laid to rest at Ponders Whitfield Memorial Gardens with Brian Miller, Randy Miller, Todd Miller, Drew Miller, Mark Miller, Heath Caylor, Jonathan Caylor, Martin Caylor and Ladarius Green serving as pallbearers.  The 1963 class of North Whitfield High will serve as honorary pallbearers. 

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday and after 12 p.m. Thursday until the service hour. 

Flowers will be accepted or donation may be made to the American Cancer Society, 300 W. Emery St., Dalton, GA 30721.
