Edith Elizabeth Pope Robinson Lampley was born October 11, 1921, in Columbia, Mississippi, to Joseph Carter Pope and Leona Seals Pope.
She died July 16, 2017, in her home at Morning Pointe in Ooltewah, at the age of 95. Edith went to nursing school in Columbia and worked as a registered nurse and director of nursing over her career in North Mississippi, California and Tennessee. After relocating to Chattanooga in the 1970s, she returned to her true love of working the floor helping patients. She retired from the Hamilton County Nursing Home in the mid-1990s.
Edith enjoyed gardening, camping, and getting lost in the woods. Edith was married to Seth Eugene Robinson until his death in 1971.
One of eight children, she is survived by her sister, Josie Mobley, and brother, James Pope. Loving family members include her children, Gloria Robinson of Strasburg, Va., Dean (Judy) Robinson of Harrison, and Steve Robinson (Leslie Toombs) of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeff) Bates, Ben (Tera) Robinson), all of Ooltewah, and John (Ashley) Robinson of Elkmont; and great-grandchildren, Evan and Adam Bates, of Ooltewah, and Ford Robinson of Elkmont, Al.
The family would like to recognize Edith's special friend and caregiver Debra Cousin of Ooltewah.
Private graveside services will be held in Corinth, Ms., on July 29, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite hospice.
