As excitement builds for the upcoming solar eclipse on Aug. 21, Bryan College invites the Dayton and Chattanooga communities to view the once-in-a-lifetime event on its campus.

Beginning at 1 p.m., the College will have solar viewing stations set up near the Grassy Bowl, across from Rudd Auditorium, including a solar telescope. To view a map of campus and driving directions, please visit here

The eclipse will become visible at approximately 2 p.m. with the eclipse reaching totality at 2:33 pm and last approximately two minutes.

There will be two presentations about solar eclipses inside Rudd Auditorium beginning at 1 p.m. Dr. Lyle Smith will present “What is an Eclipse?” and Dr. Jud Davis will present “Eclipses and Scripture: What the Bible says About These occurrences?” The presentations will be offered again at 1:30 p.m.

In order to participate in the solar eclipse viewing, guests must wear specially made protective glasses to avoid damaging effects to their vision. The College will have a limited supply of glasses available for use, but guests are encouraged to bring their own.

Guests are also encouraged to bring their own water, sunscreen, umbrellas, chairs, and blankets. When arriving on campus, please use the main entrance located off of US 27.
