The large home at 326 S. Crest Road on Missionary Ridge was sold at auction Saturday for $621,000.

Realtor Henry Glascock of the Henry B. Glascock Co., which handled the auction, said the purchasers were a Dalton couple.

The sale of the roughly century-old home had brought much interest, with dozens of people attending several open houses leading up to the auction.

The home had been lived in for a number of years by two generations of the Sam Campbell family of MoonPie snack fame.
Other families had also lived in it.

In recent years, it was resided in by Fred and Misty Hanzelik. Mr. Hanzelik, a well-known local attorney, died in 2014.

In December, the larger Hutcheson home just south on South Crest Road was sold at auction for $1 million to Glenn and Tracey Boyd of Dalton, Ga. That home had been owned by the Dr. Dennis Stohler family in recent decades.
