Apparently, they’ve opened up a new department at the Shallowford Road Post Office: The Sales Prevention Department.
It’s ably run by two Business Mail Unit postal employees, who act as if you have brought them a dead skunk if you are attempting to hand them thousands of dollars for bulk mail services. For your patronage, you will get rude, unhelpful service.
As a bonus, they act as if everyone who is walking upright understands how to fill out the obscure forms and walk through the arcane machinations required by the USPS.
If you’re lucky, they’ll even treat your assistant as if she is a buffoon at no extra charge if she asks questions about the process during her first time using bulk mail services.
It is little surprise this location has 1.9 stars on Google Reviews (you have to work for a score that low...)

For the first time ever, I thought I’d try to go the bulk mail route. It was as if I was on Candid Camera and someone was faking the worst customer interaction process possible – but the cameras never came out… this was, apparently, real life.
Don’t bother complaining to the postmaster – he will not return your call. After all, you are a private citizen and a customer – not a federal union employee. What option, after all, do you have when it comes to the postal monopoly for letter delivery?
There was one bright spot however. The postmaster’s assistant is very, very capable at her job. Nice, cordial, understanding, and empathetic.
Here’s my suggestion: Immediately suspend all HR related non-sense workshops. Let the assistant teach a simple class entitled: “How to Communicate Politely with Humans Who Pay Your Salary.”
I’ll bet she could get these guys treating postal customers like they would their friends, family, and neighbors – or at least robotically go through the motions. It’s a long shot, but it’s worth a try.
