Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper star in Morocco at Heritage House on Aug. 17 with two showings, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
"The heat of August will be put to good use as the 'air-conditioned environs' of Heritage House's Loft Theater transport moviegoers to Morocco, in director Josef von Sternberg’s exotic predecessor to Casablanca," officials said. "Gary Cooper plays a Legionnaire soldier stationed in the exotic locale and Marlene Dietrich is the showgirl who catches his eye. Adolphe Menjou is the wealthy playboy who throws a wrench in the whole works.
"As part of the Sternberg-Dietrich film canon, this film is widely recognized as one of the first works to establish Dietrich’s legendary 'gender-blender’ persona -- in the guise of her black top hat and tails."
Admission is free.
Light refreshments and popcorn will be served.
