The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s soccer team was picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference Preseason Poll released today by the league office today.
The Mocs received 40 points in the poll, 10 behind Mercer who eliminated the Mocs in quarterfinal round of the SoCon Tournament.
Three-time defending champion Samford was picked to win the league by the coaches with eight first place votes and 81 points. Furman received one first place vote and tied with ETSU for second in the poll followed by UNCG with 56 points and the Bears rounded out the Top 5.
Behind the Mocs is Western Carolina with 34 points, VMI with 22, The Citadel received 19 points and Wofford had 14.
Samford placed three on the all-conference squad with Jermaine Seoposenwe receiving the most votes for forwards.
Kaitlyn Orman was the top vote-getter among midfielders and Anna Maddox was the lone goal keeper.
ETSU placed three on the squad as well with Furman placing four on the team. UNCG’s Gabbi Charles rounded out the team.
The Mocs open the season at home Friday, August 18 at home against Austin Peay. The game kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Finley Stadium. Admission to all Chattanooga home games is free.
