Velma Masengil
Velma Masengil, 82, of Cleveland passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12, 2017, in a local healthcare facility.
She was a lifelong resident of Bradley County and a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She cherished and enjoyed spending time with her beloved family. She loved flower gardening and appreciated time spent outdoors. Also she was fond of ceramics.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lora and John Godfrey.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Arthur Masengil; three sons: Alan Masengil of Long Beach CA, Larry Masengil and wife Lana of Cleveland, Kenneth “Ken” Masengil and wife Nancy of Chattanooga, TN; Four grandchildren: John Masengil and wife Elise of Knoxville, TN, Lora Anne Masengil of Maui Hawaii, Sebastian Masengil and Stevie Masengil both of Los Angelos, CA; Three great-grandchildren: Davis, Cate and Caroline Masengil all of Knoxville, TN; Sister, Lois Godfrey of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service and interment will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at Mt Carmel Cemetery with Pastor Charlie Bridges officiating. A white dove release with bagpipes will conclude the service.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, at the funeral home.
