Dalton State (Ga.) was a unanimous first-place selection in the 2017-18 SSAC Women's Golf Coaches' Preseason Poll, the conference announced Wednesday.

Dalton State, William Carey (Miss.) and Faulkner (Ala.) claimed the top three slots in all but one ballot.

The Basics

  •         The Roadrunners won the 2016-17 SSAC Championship by seven strokes, while Tia Teiniketo was the individual medalist
  •         Dalton State, William Carey and Faulkner all earned bids to the National Championship last season, with the Roadrunners earning a No. 4 finish
  •         Those three teams combined for 10 of the 16 SSAC All-Conference selections last year

Dalton State Head Coach Jim McGrew said, "It is always an honor when your fellow competitors think highly enough of you to pick you as the favorites heading into the season. We know this is based on what we have done in the past and understand that this is a new year. This conference has proven itself over the last three years to be one of the best in the country with top five finishes at nationals and last year with 3 teams making the cut at nationals. This year will be no different and we look forward to the great competition that the conference provides."
