The Chattanooga Police Department and Rossville Police Department were involved in a officer involved shooting on Aug. 14, police said Thursday.
During the course of an investigation, officers of the two departments made contact with the suspect at the 5000 block of Rossville Boulevard. A short time later, shots were fired by law enforcement and the suspect was struck by this gunfire.
The suspect was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The Hamilton County District Attorney's office assigned the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office the lead role in investigating the incident. The scene was secured by the Chattanooga Police Department until such time as the HCSO investigators could arrive to lead the investigation into the incident.
Police said, "Chattanooga Police and Rossville Police will cooperate with Hamilton County Sheriff's Office investigators as they look into the sequence of events which transpired on that day."
All Chattanooga Police officers who were on the scene at the time of the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, which is per CPD policy after being involved in an application of deadly force.
