Jerry “Don” Coleman, 76, of Ft. Oglethorpe, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, Sept. 8, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of the Ft. Oglethorpe/Rossville area and was of the Baptist faith. Don served his country in the U.S. Army, was a golf pro and caddie at Lookout Mountain Golf Club, and retired from the Pete Serdeano Corporation in 2002. He enjoyed playing golf with his friends at Brown Acres Golf Course and playing dominoes with his buddies at the American Legion Post #95. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be greatly missed.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Houston and Minnie Louella Benton Coleman; siblings Alvin Coleman, Jr., Minnie Beatrice Hayes, Jimmy Coleman, Sarah Jo Hart, and an infant brother; and grandsons Jeffery Brookshire and Joshua Brookshire.
He is survived by Sue Coleman; daughters, Donna Brookshire, Darlene (Dan) Flanders, Denise Wood, Susan (Yack) Barrett, Carla (Jamie) Hodnett, and Darla (Ken) Brooks; brother Richard (Judy) Coleman; sister-in-law Cheryl Scheivelhud; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is Monday, Sept. 11 from 4-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home- Ft. Oglethorpe Chapel.
