CSCC Staff Members Complete Advisor Training

Staff members at Cleveland State Community College received recognition for voluntarily completing Level One Advisor Training, the basic course that all faculty are required to complete.

This includes such topics as an overview of types of advising, making referrals, the new student intake process, and using some of the advising software tools.

One staff member, Juliann Mathis, completed the Level Two training which goes more in-depth on several advising topics, and those advisors have increased access to student information, as well as more ability to correct student issues.

CSCC’s Burnette Named 2018 Coca Cola Leaders Of Promise Scholar

America Burnett, a student at Cleveland State Community College, is one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2018 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship.  The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program helps new Phi Theta Kappa members defray educational expenses while enrolled in associate degree programs. Authorities Say Hixson Man Shot And Killed His 15-Year-Old Son On Saturday Night; Also Killed Family Dog

Authorities said a Hixson man shot and killed his 15-year-old son on Saturday night. A report says Mike McElrath, 46, a former Hamilton County jailer, who was found naked at a neighbor's house, also killed the family dog. County deputies responded at 10:24 p.m. to 1846 Cotter Road.
