Taxes And Irma And The Other One

  • Tuesday, September 12, 2017

I have often equated politicians with the wind. It blows this and that way, sometimes up and sometimes down, and we coin the phrase the way the wind blows is often the way our elected folk operate. This series of storms in Texas, Louisiana, and Florida and some outlying islands have brought what should be a conundrum to those that blow with the wind.

When Ted Cruz would not vote for the New Jersey storm destruction he did so because he said large amounts of that money was for something else. But guess what, Cruz voted for his home state.

But, there is still another that should make us all scratch our heads. Tax relief. With the cost of both of those storms somewhere in the stratosphere our wind-blown pols will vote for tax relief for their friends and lobbyists. Then, get this - they will howl when the bills start coming in for the two storms.

Wonder if I am naive but shouldn't our government be run by grown-ups?
