James (Jim) Westbrooks died peacefully on September 7, 2017.

He was born in Horton, Al. He lived and worked in the Atlanta area in his early adult life.

Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Kiefer Westbrooks, children Gail (Jim) Howard of Berea, KY., Robbie (John) Williams and John (Joanne) Westbrooks, both of Chattanooga, Lisa (John) McMahn, Ponte Vedra, Fl., Steve (Monika) Westbrooks, Marietta, Ga., brother Gary (Jean) Westbrooks, and seven grandchildren, Tim, James, Elise, Mattie, Grace, Carter, and Kiefer.

A Funeral Mass celebrating Jim’s life will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 12 p.m. with Father Jim Vick officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the Chattanooga Funeral Home East Chapel from 10-11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in Jim’s honor to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Dr # 22, Chattanooga, TN 37421, the Heal Autism Foundation, P.O. Box 140 Ponte Vedra, FL 32004, or to a charity of your choice.

Red Bank Finalizes 20-Cent Property Tax Increase

The Red Bank commissioners voted Tuesday night to adopt the fiscal year 2018-2019 budget that includes a property tax increase. Mayor John Roberts said that along with the increase in both commercial and residential development, comes increased traffic.
