Barney “Dub” Will Elders, Jr.
Barney “Dub” Will Elders, Jr., age 85, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life Friday morning, September 15, 2017 at a local hospital.
Dub was born Feb. 10, 1932 in Dalton, a son of the late Barney and Lilly Mae Elders. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Daisy Irene Elders; daughter, Peggy Irene Edwards; brothers, Charles Elders, Robert Elders; and sisters, Mabel Louise Elders, Ruth Thompson.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Allen and Sue Elders of Chatsworth; Gary and Ann Elders, Ricky Elders of Dalton; daughters, Aileen Bowers of Tunnel Hill, Marilynn Sosebee of Chatsworth; brothers, Jim Elders of Chatsworth, Steve Elders of Dalton; sisters, Lucille Stanley, Bernice Lowman of Dalton; and 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Barney “Dub” Will Elders, Jr. will be held Monday, Sept. 18, at 2 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Cliff Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the Ponders Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with the American Legion Post 112 in charge of Military Honors. James Bowers, Steven Elders, Kenny Edwards, Bradley Sosebee, Chris Wallace, and Bruce Thompson will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Sunday.
