Harold Dugger Powell, 85, of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, died on September 17, 2017.
Born in Meigs County, Tn., on May 16, 1932, Dugg Powell loved his God, family, and country.
Dugg was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Lee Willingham Powell, his parents, Frank and Mary Glades Powell, and his brother, Richard Franklin Powell.
Dugg is survived and loved dearly by his five children, Harold Dugger “Happy” (Laurie) Powell Jr., Frank Preston (Lori) Powell, William Crosby “Bill” (Sissy) Powell, Mary Lee Powell (Wade) McGregor of Nashville, and the caboose, Anne Gillespie Powell “Anne G.” (Paul) Lang. In addition, he is survived by 14 grandchildren: Mary Ann Powell Sokolowski, Trey Powell, Eleanor Powell Hildebrand, Melissa Powell Street, Meredith Powell Clark, Mary Sessions Powell Bridges, Meg McGregor, Malone Powell Wittler, Kate McGregor, Laura Powell, Jack McGregor, Emily Powell, Bryan Lang and Laurel Anne Lang, and seven great-grandchildren, a brother, James Preston Powell of Americus, Ga., and two sisters, Rebecca (Coy) Franklin of Fredericksburg, Va., and Mary Beth Rogers of Americus, Ga.
Dugg’s greatest love of all was for his Lord Jesus Christ for whom he served faithfully with all his heart.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Chattanooga in the connector, followed by the service at noon, with Chris Bowen and Darryl Smith presiding. A private burial will follow in Riceville, Tn.
