A man with a long string of burglary arrests has admitted to carrying out new business break-ins.

Terry Lynn Highfield, 61, of 512 S. Holtzclaw Ave., is charged with several counts of burglary of a business.

On Aug. 6, police responded to a burglar alarm at Bargain Hunt, 1301 Hickory Valley Road. Officers found that the building had been entered by force.

Video showed a white male arrive at the store in a gray Lincoln Towncar. He pried open the front door, went inside, then carried out a TV.

Police learned that Highfield was a suspect in this and other business break-ins.

He was taken to police headquarters, where he gave a confession to the burglary of the Bargain Hunt and other stores.

Highfield got a four-year state prison sentence for burglaries in 1997.

He has had a number of other burglary and theft charges with many of them being eventually dismissed.

He was declared an habitual traffic offender in 2000.
