Hammond Seeking Another Term As Sheriff; Plans Kickoff At Westin On Oct. 19

Jim Hammond will seek another term as sheriff of Hamilton County.

He announced that a kickoff reception will be at the new Westin Hotel on Pine Street on Oct. 19. It will be from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The former chief deputy to Sheriff H.Q. Evatt was elected sheriff in August of 2008.

He has over 54 years of law enforcement experience, including 15 years as chief deputy. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Navy, an international police instructor, and former adjunct instructor for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

He is married to his wife of 40 years, Jeannie and they have three children and eight grandchildren.

Sheriff Hammond has a B.A. degree in psychology from Tennessee Temple University, as well as a B.S. and Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

He will be running in the Republican primary.

Soddy Daisy Making Progress On Road Projects; Dealing With Flooding Along Friendship Lane

Work to improve roads in the city of Soddy Daisy is being done during the summer. Cox Lane, Miller Road and a section of Cliff Road have been repaved.
