Chattanooga Traditional Dance Society presents Dance into Fall Contra! on Saturday from 7:30-11 p.m., featuring calling by Grant Yost and music by Ed and Elsie. 

CTDS dances take place at Brainerd United Methodist Church, Lundy Hall, 4315 Brainerd Road. Admission is $8 and $5 for students and seniors. 

Everyone is invited to join the family-friendly event and enjoy the lively, traditional social dance.  No need to bring a partner. All dances are taught in walk-throughs.  Participants should wear comfortable, casual clothes and bring a separate pair of clean, soft-soled shoes for dancing.  Note: hard-soled boots or shoes are not allowed on the dance floor. 

There is always a Contra Basics lesson for newcomers at 7:30 p.m. 

The Chattanooga Traditional Dance Society has been sponsoring contra dances for over 20 years.




Child Passenger Seat Safety Check Planned For Friday

Safe Kids Dalton, under the direction of the Whitfield County Fire Department, will be conducting a free child passenger seat safety check on Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Check into Cash, 1133 North Glenwood Ave. The public is invited to take part. (click for more)

The City of Cleveland announced the winners of the 2017 Capture Cleveland Photo Contest. 60 participants submitted pictures for the contest. Man Barges Into Woman's Home In MLK Neighborhood; Tries To Rape Her; Photos Of Suspect Released; Thomas Carr, 28, Is Arrested

Chattanooga Police said a man barged into a woman's home in the MLK Neighborhood around noon on Tuesday and tried to rape the woman.   Thomas Lee Carr, 28, was taken into custody on Wednesday morning. Moccasin Bend Resident Asks City To Move Police Firing Range So He Can Open Bed And Breakfast Inn

A Moccasin Bend resident is asking the city to move a police firing range from off the historic Bend so he can open a bed and breakfast inn.
