Shelia C. Boyington, PE, has been appointed to serve on the Chattanooga Hamilton County Hospital Authority Board of Trustees by Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger.  The Chattanooga business executive replaces Rick Youngblood as the newest member of Erlanger’s governing body.

Ms.

Boyington is president of Thinking Media, a Chattanooga-based educational technology firm specializing in educational technologies. Thinking Media is the creator of Learning Blade, a STEM career awareness system; ACT’s KeyTrain system for WorkKeys; PictureRx for health literacy and CharacterEd.Net for K-12 character education. She currently serves as national senior advisor to STEMconnector and as National States Chair for Million Women Mentors, which leads national efforts for promoting women in STEM careers.

“It is an honor to serve the community and Erlanger as a board member,” said Ms. Boyington. “This exceptional facility means a lot to the community, and was also the place of birth of our daughters so it is personally special to me. I believe in the mission of Erlanger, and look forward to supporting that as it expands to meet the growing needs of our community.”

Erlanger’s new board member is also a leader in the Indian community, and has served on numerous boards including the Chattanooga Chamber, Enterprise Center, GPS, Girls Inc. CWLI and Georgia Tech. She has also received numerous awards for her entrepreneurship and leadership roles, including the Athena, SuperNova and Small Business of the Year.

Erlanger trustees are appointed to the board by the Hamilton County Mayor and the Hamilton County legislative delegation. The health system’s Chief of Staff also serves as a trustee. Trustees, who serve without compensation, are appointed for an initial term of four years and may serve for no more than eight consecutive years.

Jack Studer serves as chairman of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Hospital Authority Board of Trustees. Other Erlanger trustees include Michael J. Griffin, vice chair; Phil Smartt, secretary; Jay Sizemore, MD, chief of medical staff; Blaise Baxter, MD, Henry Hoss, Linda Moss Mines, Jennifer E. Stanley and Gerald Webb II.
