Nearly 450 cheer athletes of all different ages tumbled, danced and cheered on the mats at Chattooga High School on Monday night for the fifth annual Bobcat Cheer Extravaganza, presented and hosted by Georgia Northwestern.

Recreation teams, middle school teams and high school teams, both varsity and junior varsity, performed and competed in three different divisions for awards in both cheer and routine.

The Georgia Northwestern Bobcat cheerleaders put on an exhibition performance for the crowd at the end of the night.

Bobcat cheer head coach Karen Stoker called it “another successful event”.

“Everyone did so well and we only had two teams that had registered that couldn’t make it,” she explained. “It was wonderful to have it here at Chattooga for the first time. We loved it. They have an amazing facility and fans here really support cheerleading.

“I also have to thank our wonderful staff at Georgia Northwestern for their help and a big thanks goes out to Tina Carter, who checked in all the teams that performed tonight.”

The Ringgold Recreation cheerleaders took first place for Cheer in Division I, followed by Chickamauga and Rossville, who tied for second, and LaFayette, who finished fourth. Chickamauga won first place for Routine, followed by LaFayette and Ringgold.

In Division II, Rossville Recreation won first place in Cheer, followed by LaFayette, East Ridge, the Ridgeland Athletic Youth Academy and Summerville. LaFayette earned first place in Routine. Rossville was second and Summerville was third.

The first place award for Division III Routine went to the Cheer U Diamonds, while the Gaylesville (Ala.) Trojanettes were second.

Chattanooga Valley took first in Cheer and in Routine for the Middle School Spirit Division. Chattooga was first in Cheer and Routine in the Middle School Competition Division, while Rossville was second in both categories.
