The Dalton Police Department has six outstanding arrest warrants for individuals who investigators say were involved in a fraudulent check cashing operation ripping off area businesses and netting hundreds of dollars in the process. Now DPD investigators are asking for information from the public regarding where they can be found.
The investigation began in August. Several area businesses reported being informed that individuals were cashing bad checks at their stores. Among the businesses reporting being ripped off were Carneceria Nacho at 900 Underwood Street, which reported incidents on both Aug. 2 and Aug. 12. Suspects cashed bad checks at the store in the amounts of $811.72, $725.46, $489.37, and $478.24. The Carneceria location at 608 MLK Boulevard reported an incident that occurred Aug. 17, in which individuals cashed checks in the amount of $475 and $467. Dalton detectives investigating these cases developed leads on other incidents and eventually obtained arrest warrants for eight individuals.
The six suspects still wanted are being sought on warrants for felony manufacture of fake checks, felony financial identity fraud, and misdemeanor forgery in the first degree. They are:
· Timothy Scott Hester, 28, Tunnel Hill
· Tevin William Miller, 25, Dalton
· James Juan Acevedo, 26, Dalton
· Jacob Corbin, 25, Chatsworth
· Charles Tinsley, 34, Dalton

They were also charged with felony manufacture of fake checks, felony financial identity fraud, and misdemeanor forgery in the first degree.
