Wendell Berry To Be Keynote Speaker At SouthWord Nov. 3-4

Wendell Berry is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at SouthWord, the biennial event that brings 40 members of the Fellowship of Southern Writers to Chattanooga  Nov. 3-4. Friday will be held at UTC's University Center and Saturday will be held at Bessie Smith Cultural Center and Lindsey Street Hall.   

SouthWords’ keynote address will be delivered by Mr. Berry, an American novelist, poet, environmental activist, cultural critic, and farmer. A prolific author, he has written many novels, short stories, poems, and essays. Mr. Berry is a recipient of The National Humanities Medal and the Jefferson Lecturer for 2012. He is also a 2013 Fellow of The American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has also been inducted into the Kentucky Writers Hall of Fame.
