Star Party At Cloudland Canyon Is Sept. 23

A Star Party will be held at Cloudland Canyon State Park on Saturday, Sept. 23. 

Sponsored by the Staff and Friends of Cloudland Canyon State Park and conducted by the Barnard Astronomical Society, the public is invited to come and see the night sky through telescopes.

Participants will also be looking at and identifying the constellations of fall and observing DSO's (Deep Sky Objects) like star clusters, nebulae and other galaxies like the Milky Way.

The program will be at the starting point of the Disc Golf Course from 8-11 p.m.  

Astronomy programs are free to all and usual parking fee at the park applies.

Kayak Tour From Chattanooga To Brown’s Ferry Set For Aug. 31

The public is invited to participate in a free, four-hour, kayak tour with a ranger on Friday, Aug. 31 at 9 a.m. National Park Partners and the Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga will sponsor an event where visitors will paddle down the Tennessee River, around the tip of Moccasin Bend, while learning about the much needed supply line to help lift the Confederate siege of Chattanooga. ... The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is seeking public input regarding deer management in Tennessee at three public meetings early next month. Person Shot And Killed On Cotter Road; Shooter Taken Into Custody

One person was shot and killed on Cotter Road on Saturday night. The Sheriff's Office said the shooter was taken into custody It happened in the 1800 block of Cotter Road. Cotter Road is in Hixson. (click for more)

Wall Collapses At Home On Bradford Place Drive

Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a structural collapse call shortly after  10 a.m. on Saturday .   When firefighters arrived at 307 Bradford Place Drive, a large hole could be seen on one side of the house.
