In Wake Of DACA Decision, County Schools Say All Students "To Remain Welcome"

With the recent announcement made that there is intention to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Hamilton County School officials said they "want to reassure our community that HCDE will continue to be a safe place where all students are welcome."

 

County School Board Chairman Dr. Steve Highlander stated, “We are concerned for all students and want to meet their needs where they are.

We desire that every student regardless of their immigration status have an opportunity to be post-secondary ready.”

 

School officials said, "Hamilton County Department of Education values our diverse education population and want all parents and students to feel welcome in our school community. We will continue to monitor the immigration debate going forward."
