GBI Says Rossville Man, 65, Pointed Gun At Walker County Deputy, Then Was Shot And Killed

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said a 65-year-old Rossville man pointed a gun at a Walker County deputy early Monday morning, then was shot and killed.

The victim was identified as Mark Steven Parkinson.

The fatal shot was fired by Deputy John Chandler, the TBI said.

The incident happened at 147 Meadowview Lane.

Deputies went to the home on a wellness check after a report that a woman was threatening to kill herself and her children.

Deputies found Parkinson at the scene with a gun.

The GBI said the deputies announced several times that they were from the Walker County Sheriff's Office.
