Dejuan Slate told police he was shot multiple times in the back after arriving on Highland Avenue on a marijuana deal.

Keair Curtis Goodman, 19, has been taken into custody for the shooting of the 23-year-old Slate on Dec. 19.

Goodman is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony.

Police responding to the scene found the victim lying in the roadway.
He was rushed to the hospital.

Slate later told police he met "Destiny Love" on Facebook. He said he agreed to meet her at a church on Highland Avenue so he could sell $250 of marijuana.

He said when he arrived he noticed that she had an unidentified black male with her. He said he refused to allow the male into his car, but the male got in anyway.

He said "Destiny" distracted him, then he noticed the male pointing a handgun toward the back of his head from the rear passenger seat. He said he immediately slid down in the driver's seat as the man fired toward his head.

He said "Destiny" immediately jumped out of the car and ran. The man continued to fire at him, striking him in the back and side.

At one point, he said he looked the man in the face and said, "Take it all."

He said he was able to get out of the passenger side of the car and try to hide under the vehicle. He said the man fired two more shots at him as he was exiting the vehicle.

Police said several residents came to the aid of the shooting victim, whose injuries left him "temporarily paralyzed."

Slate identified his attacker and found several pictures of him on Facebook, it was stated.

The true identity of Destiny Love has not yet been ascertained, but she is facing charges, police said.
